The Academy of Elizabethtown, NJ

The Academy seeks to serve the People of Elizabeth in four ways:

Historically

We will operate a museum dedicated to explaining the region’s vital role in American Revolution and how immigrants made and are making a difference today.

Artistically

We will use our 200-seat Auditorium to host Community Theatre, Concerts, and Lectures. We are especially interested in attracting new artists and performers who reflect the diverse and talented population of the city and surrounding area.

Educationally

The 2nd floor studio will be a haven for art students from a variety of disciplines. ESL and other training programs will help new immigrants and persons with special needs “fill the gaps” in their learning so they can find better jobs

Community Service

There will be office space for government and social service organizations. The weekly Agape feeding program will serve the working poor. Other agencies will target immigrants, the  un- and under-employed, and women seeking a better life.

Serving Elizabeth City and Union County for over 250 years, the Academy of Elizabethtown is reclaiming its heritage as a place of learning, personal growth, and community service. You are welcome to join with us as we pursue our mission in the 21st century.
